Firestarter works on the Alinux distro ??

I ran into a website googling and according to it, there shouldn't be any problems. Anyways, the only good way to know is download it and try it out. Good luck there.

I had it on Debian and Mandriva. A very good piece of software.
As I recall, there is a source code available so you can compile it and then it'll work for sure.

I am running firestarter on fc3, and it does it's job. The only problem i find is that it is not that featurefull. You have like only inside and outside interfaces. You can't configure that much rules and so on and so forth. I mean, i know it's not a cisco pix firewall but it could have some more features like shorewall or something like that.
But it does work.

Firestarter is just a "front end" of iptables, so if you want to configure the rules, you must configure iptables.
Using google, you can easily learn how to make scripts, for maximum security.
