Okay so I am home for the summer. I live in the woods so dial-up is my only option. I have Slackware 10.2. I run pppsetup. Then I do ppp-go. An extra light on my modem lights up, but no dial tone, no dialing... no internet! However, if I try ppp-go over and over for some reason it will just randomly work. Why would it not work all the time? It is the same thing regardless of whether or not I type ppp-go or ppp-on.

Everything has to be set up properly since it eventually works, right? I just wish it would work the very first time so I am not embarrassed when my friends watch me try to connect to the internet.
