    nic card installation help


    hello

    recently i've install RealTek RTL8139 NIC card (Micronet). i need a helpful tutorial to install my NIC card properly.

    where may i find it please? it will be a great help if any body tell me the steps to install it the LAN card.

    What do you mean by you have installed it but need help installing it? Do you mean configuring the card to allow internet access? If so, what distribution are you running? Chances are that it has a built in tool for doing such a thing, but it would depend on the distribution.

    Being a RealTek, i would say that it would have the relevent module loaded to use the card already... to check that, type:
    Code:
    /sbin/ifconfig
    in a terminal and it should list devices "lo" (loopback, ip address 127.0.0.1) and eth0 (first ethernet device).

    If it shows there, you just need to configure it.
