my modem is not supported by the system!! how?

Hello every body..

I installed Mandrake 10.1 and it recognized my modem but when I attempt adding a new connection a message:

Your modem isn't supported by the system

what is the solution?

Can you give some details on the modem? What brand is it, model name/number type of connection etc.

I got these information using a tool called scanModem from linmodem.org:

Recompile the kernel with support for your modem. It takes less than 10 minutes.
