I have a VT6102 (Rhine 2) Onboard Lan that's giving me a lot of headaches. No distro has gotten further than loading the via-rhine module since the one time I tried Slax on it. All manual configuration has failed except for going back to a 2.4 kernel in Slack, and then compiling the rhinefet drivers (didn't compile in 2.6).

Anyways, now I have a "working" card, but my MAC is nothing but zeros. Could this have been the reason for failed configuration? I saw a tool that mentions it can change the MAC, (I don't think it was temporary like macchanger because it mentions that it's "not recommended").
