Slackware 9.1 - Slow cable connection
Hey,
I recently installed Slackware 9.1, and Im dual-booting with Windows XP. While using Slackware, the internet speeds are very slow in comparision to when using windows. When using windows the speed is averaging 3-6mbps, when on linux it barely goes beyond 1.5mbps. Any ideas as to what is causing the major decrease in speed? Some people have said it might be the DNS, so I thought maybe using a cached DNS would make a difference. Any ideas on fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.
System specifications:
Pentium IV 2.4Ghz
512mb DDR
nVidia GeForce 4 4600ti 128mb
CNet PRO200WL PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
The connection is cable from Comcast. It runs from 3-6+mbps based on different bandwidth testing sites.

Have you full duplex enabled? I've seen enabling it improving the speed. Check out "man mii-tool" for more information.
Good luck
