Samba - My Network places error
hi there,
I had Samba running well and good on my former FC4 installation. The only problem is now that ive just upgraded to FC5, after setting up samba...workgroup, IPs, shared DIRs...creating user/pass, necessary IPs etc., then I in an attempt to access the shared DIR on my Linux from windows, I go to(on WindowsXP):I can see the 2 icons both for my windows and Linux PCs, so I click on the Linux server Icon, and the error I get is"........................permission is not granted for you to use this resource.......contact your network administrator blah blah blah....etc....."My network places >>Entire Network>>Microsoft Windows Network>>Workgroup....
however, should i fire from Start menu >> RUn >>\\Ip of my server.....yes, it prompts for a username/password...which I have created on Samba. My shared DIRs on the FC5 opens, and I can copy files to and fro, . Im using the same username/pass on windows and on Samba.
Pls, what could cause the errors I get when i try to access the server from my Network places.........section.
regards
Tokunbo
