Crossover Cable Internet Connection Sharing (Ubuntu-Ubuntu) HELP ME!
I have a computer and a laptop, both of which are running Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. My laptop has a wireless card, and my computer does not. Both, of course, have wired NICs.
I have tried several other fourms and have gotten little to no help, and in one or two, it screwed up my computer so I had to reinsatall ubuntu. (fixed it and got all of my files back, so I'm cool.)
Anyway, I have connected my crossover cable to either computer, and my topology is as follows:
(ath0 = wireless, eth0 = wired)
Router (192.168.0.X) - - - - (wireless link) - - - -Ubuntu Laptop (ath0=192.168.0.Y eth0=192.168.1.X)-----------(wired crossover link)------------Ubuntu Computer (eth0=192.168.0.Z)
I am attempting to share my internet connection from my laptop to my computer. All of the subnet masks are set to 255.255.255.0, and the gateway on the computer is set to the eth0 ip of the laptop. The internet works fine on the laptop. I can ping from my computer the wired NIC and the wireless NIC, but not the router. Any ideas?Last edited by kuruoujou; 09-15-2006 at 10:41 PM. Reason: clearity
- 09-16-2006 #2Change the address on the Ubuntu Computer to a 192.168.1 addressRouter (192.168.0.X) - - - - (wireless link) - - - -Ubuntu Laptop (ath0=192.168.0.Y eth0=192.168.1.X)-----------(wired crossover link)------------Ubuntu Computer (eth0=192.168.0.Z)
to be on the same subnet as its default gateway, eth0 on the laptop.
