[Red-Hat] Prisonner, Slave of the Distribution
Hello everybody !!
I just bought a TOSHIBA P2000 Laptop P3-733, 256MB,20GB.... The guy from who i bought had an RedHat install on it, not very professional cause actualyl almost nothing works, i am not a redhat expert i prefer gentoo but to be able to install gentoo i must first install the network on the redhat cause i have to perform an install of Gentoo from this allready installed distribution because this laptop has no cdrom and only an USB Floppy that is not accepted by any of USB Boot Floppy Disks. So what i need you guys is to explain me how can i quickly install lan on redhat. I have an intel E100 lan card. Am asking it cause i can not even find how do u compile the kernel in this distrib no /usr/src/linux ?? Anyway if sb please please be so nice and explain step by step what do i have to do to make work my lan ?
Thanks
The redhat has kde install on it.

open a terminal and run:
modprobe e100
if your network has a DHCP server on it, plug in the cable, and think you can run "ifup eth0".
