i've just reinstalled Slackware 11 on my pc, after having used my modem very happily. however, now when i try and dial up, it dials the number, starts to make the usual noises, but then gets 'stuck' on one noise and stays like that for a while, and then just stops, giving the message 'NO CARRIER'. it seems like i've tried everything - changing the kernel config, using kppp/wvdial, i've tried lots of different init strings...all to no avail.

i'm using kernel 2.6.18.2 and the latest hsfmodem drivers with a licence key.

any ideas?
