ip problem
hi all,
i got a problem while setting up a static ip to my linux fedora
i set the static ip for my machine and that machine is accessible only with teh ip address when ever i give the host name it is not working, and also it is showing a different ip address from the other address can any one help me in this?
ex:
i gave the ip as 192.122.1.199
the host name is shiva
when i ping the above ip its working
if i ping with name as
ping shiva it is showing another ip beside the host name
shiva[192.122.1.155]

Howdy shiva.linux!
Being new myself, I can only suggest that you take a look at your /etc/hosts file. See if shiva is related to the correct ip address.

Could you post the /etc/host* files and the results of ifconfig, it may show some clues.
