    Hi mallik and welcome.

    How you do it depends greatly on which distro you are using. Would you care to tell us? You can also do it from the command line. As an example:
    As su:
    Code:
    /sbin/ifconfig eth0 inet 192.168.1.101
    For further options, do:
    Code:
    man ifconfig
