ndiswraper and rtl8187 chip - WIRELESS device shows as WIRED device
I bought the USB Netgear WG111 v2 which uses the RTL8187 chipset. Using ndiswrapper to get the thing working under AMD64 Ubuntu Edgy.
I downloaded the Windows xp x64 driver and installed it with ndiswrapper. The device wlan0 shows up, but get this: the system thinks it is a wired device! Doing a iwconfig shows:
wlan0 - no wireless extensions.
NOTE: using the same driver I installed with ndiswrapper I used in the dual booted Windows xp x64 and the thing worked.
Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks,
Ian Williamson
