Email fails, is it port forwarding?
My config:
SuSE 10.2 via Ethernet to Netgear FR328S router to Westell modem to Bellsouth DSL.
I can reach my email on the Bellsouth server with no problems. My son has a Hotmail account and a university email account. Both email accounts hang up. My gut feel is that it is the router/firewall (FR328S) but I have no clue as to how to proceed to diagnose this problem.
If you go into the FR328S setup, I can unblock by enabling port forwarding. If I do that, I have to enter an IP address. I think this means that only one IP could use the email server then. I don't think that router/firewall's would be designed so only one IP address would work with an email system.
What should I do to diagnose this problem? TIA
