    Unhappy internet through ethernet - help needed


    I am newbie. I made my system windows free and installed yoper. I love its speed. It has detected my ethernet card- Realtek. It shows it in dmesg.
    But when I type ifconfig, it shows just
    lo0
    and configuration.

    Theres no eth0. I have a dhcp server on my ethernet and want to connect to it..pls help

    when i try
    #ifup eth0
    ifup:couldn't read interfaces file "/etc/network/interfaces"
    #

    Make sure you network is up first:

    service network restart


    then ifup eth0
