Debian ethc, what is that?
I have downloade the custom installer with 2.6.19 kernel.I used a custom installer, based on the 2.6.19 kernel :

Then I upgraded to Etch.
You may be able to use the official Etch installer, but a daily build (as Etch RC1 won't work) :

It is a PATA one, but I don't think it matter that much. The motherboard is what matters.

Sorry for not being clear. I was referring to 2 different options. Either you use the custom sarge installer, or you can use a Etch installer (from the daily build), like this one
But if you are looking for something easier, I'm sure you can install openSuse 10.2 on that machine."To express yourself in freedom, you must die to everything of yesterday. From the 'old', you derive security; from the 'new', you gain the flow."
