setting up FTP - outside access

    Hi,

Firstly I am fairly new to Linux and does not know many commands.

I set up an ftp with vsftp and was enable to work on localhost read write . (boila~)

But it doesnot work outside using my ip address. ftp X.x.x.x

I can ping from outside using my ip address.

I think somehow the request is not forwarded? because I am using DSL line??

I have really little idea why this doesn't work.

Could you make any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Are you behind a router? FTP needs ports 20 and 21 . You need to allow those pors in you firewall(s)
