    Question Network card problem.

    hi, im using dsl linux for the first time and the live cd was ok. I had an internent connection on it, but after installing it to my HD, it didnt have net or lan, althought it detected my hardware realtek fast ethernet controller; driver 8139too. i tried the configurations and have been disappointed, i also used lsmod and saw that my ethernet was not there. on the dsl system stats it displayed like this:
    Hardware_Fullname="realtek fast ethernet controller"
    Hardware_Driver="8139too"

    (the address of the hardware should be here normally but it did not display it.)
    E.G. ETH0 etc....

    Then the address comes here. empty as well.
    How do i troubleshoot this problem. I also used modprobe 8139too but said that there is no such directory.

    please help out, i really appreciate it. thanks.

    Greetings,

    What is the output of the following command?

    Code:
    find /lib/modules -name '8139*'
    Also:

    Code:
    find /boot -name '*config*'
    Finally:

    Code:
    ls -al /proc/config.gz
