After I installed Zenwalk,I want to link to the Internet.I can directly link to LAN.So I must use ADSL way to link

    to WAN.
    I use pppoe-setup to setup,after that I typed pppoe-start,it already showed:...conected!
But I still can not use firefox to browse the web site on the Internet. If a wrong username or passward was set in the pppoe-setup,it will not conected. There is the same problem when I use

    Gentoo,so I changed to Zenwalk.But ...
I am in my collage.I can directly link in our http://www.njupt.edu.cn and the

    ftp://ftp.njupt.edu.cn

But if I want to link outside our college.I have to use ADSL and pay money.
When I installed Zenwalk,my IP is auto get from DHCP,I alos have the gate way:255.255.248.0
and our scholl's DNS is 202.119.230.8,which is in the file /etc/resolv.conf

    I don't understand the question.

When you use the ADSL modem, you get a feedback "connected", but you can't use your Web browser.

Can you ping like that "ping yahoo.com"? Does the ADSL modem connection stays connected or are you getting disconnected after some time?

Is there an option "debug mode" or "verbose" with your pppoe-setup?
