    that would depend on what modem you have and if you have the drivers for your modem, once the drivers are loaded and work OK it's just the matter of configuring the dial up software etc, sounds simple but it's not, it may help if you read all the manuals on Linux modems, dialup etc, there should be loads of links on the Internet
