How can I redo the setup?

I just installed Debian on my computer, and I can't use the internet, this might be because I screwed up the install, so how can I fix ths problem, and any other inputs of pieces of advice would be nice.
But now, I can't go online, if i do ifconfig, it shows as eth0, lo, and sl0. Anyone help???!!!???

I am very new to networking so bear with me.

There could be 1000s of reasons why you can't connect to the Internet, you have to be a bit more specific, i.e. don't just say it shows eth0, but include output of "ifconfig". You need to say how you're trying to connect to the Internet, is it done through a router, or directly from this machne?
