Standard VNC for all Linux OSs?

I'm playing around at the moment with VNC for Linux OSs. I've been reading a lot of various material, and I was wondering something:

Is there a standard VNC application for all versions of Linux?

I was reading something about XDM, but I'm not sure that's exactly what I'm looking for in terms of VNC.

    Hello Agent-X

Are you looking for a vnc server or client? For server most probably X11vnc or tightvncserver is what you are looking for. As for clients xvncviewer or xtightvncviewer.
