Am a new member to this forum I actually joined this group to know something about traceroute
i know that traceroute helps you in route my machine and the server. My problem is when i tracecert from my windows local machine tracecert Yahoo! it gives me proper hops
Tracing route to Yahoo! [220.127.116.11]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 000.00.00.00
2 7 ms 3 ms 5 ms 00.000.00.000.static.vsnl.net.in [00.000.00.000]
3 21 ms 4 ms 4 ms 00.000.00.000.static.vsnl.net.in [00.000.00.000]
4 7 ms 4 ms 4 ms 00.000.00.000.static.vsnl.net.in [00.000.00.000
5 148 ms 149 ms 149 ms 00.000.00.000.static.vsnl.net.in [00.000.00.000]
6 284 ms 284 ms 285 ms if-0-1.core2.ldn-london.as6453.net [00.000.00.000]
but from my linux server it give me the result as
traceroute to Yahoo! (18.104.22.168), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets

presumably your server is located behind a firewall, they have it configured to not allow ICMP outgoing packets (not uncommon, my work doesn't allow it)
