credentials used when Windows access Samba shares ?
I'm troubleshooting a problem when trying to access my Linux Samba
shares from Windows 2000. I can see the share from within Win2k but I get an
error message "the network name cannot be found". (It's a permissions problem
according to one of the Samba logs)
The userid in Windows does not exist within Linux. I then setup a Windows user
using the same name/passwd as Linux and this time it was successful.
I want to access my Samba shares using my original (non-matching) win2k logon.
Instead of just rejecting me, I'd like it to prompt me for userid/passwd
so I could type in the proper credentials.
What do I have to do in Linux/Samba to make it behave this way.
Is it possible? Thanks for any info.
