Designing an Intranet
Hello Sir, am an intermediate user in Linux , I want to know what to do to configure my Linux Computer as the webserver for an intranet plus the other configurations on windows & linux clients. as in typing for example www.seesonline.org in the web browser and browsing as if u are on the web. All detailed configurations possible. Thanks you sir
You should be able to just setup Apache for the web server with php, mysql or whatever and hit it with the ip address from the network. 192.168.0.whatever.
What distro are you using?
You probably want to install these on your server:
Apache for the web pages
imap for the email
Samba to share files with Windows
NFS for /home sharing with Linux users
Some kind of authentication service, even if it's just NIS/YP (to streamline logins across the network for Linux and maybe Windows too)
DHCP for centralised network control for the whole thing
BIND/named in conjunction with DHCP for network services
Squid to speed up group internet access and preserve bandwidth
