Eventually Lose Internet Connection

I recently installed a fresh Suse 9.2 Pro. I have an Abit K8T800 motherboard with an onboard Via Networking Velocity Family Giga-bit Ethernet Adapter. Everything seemed to be working fine with Suse at first including the internet connection. But it seems that after a few minutes my internet connection would slow up, and then eventually cease. This became most apparent to me when I first tried to update modules using YOU. A few packages would update quickly and by the fourth or sixth the progress bar increase super slow and eventually just pause forever.

The only was I am able to reestablish a connection is to restart my computer. Even logging out will not fix it.

I am on a college campus network with DHCP.

Also, is there a way to manually disable my internet connection and then enable it again through Suse configuration?
