How to dedicate one NIC (of 2) for only my ap?
I just received a new custom computer which will be used to acquire images from two imaging radiometers ( expensive research grade digital cameras) on our research aircraft over Gigabit Ethernet using a switch and static ip. The other NIC will be used to communicate with another local computer using a static ip through a switch when deployed but used to connect to the ethernet during development from time to time.
My preliminary work using a notebook with Ubuntu shows dropped packets leading to dropped images. I have Ubuntu on both machines. I'd like to set up the Gigabit NIC so that it is dedicated to my software. If anything else attempts to use it there will be no connection but it could cause the loss of packets. When deployed the machine will not boot to the desktop environment and will be headless.
Is there any way to dedicate the Gigabit NIC? It's eth1.
