How do I update my ethtool?

I am using ethtool to force my nic speeds with PXE boot Zenworks Imaging 7. On our knew systems the NIC cards are not being recognized by ethtool. I am running version 3 and wanted to update to version 5. What I currently have is a file called ethtool that is a linux executable. When I download the version 5 it is a package of files that I really don't know what to do with. How do I go about getting the version 5 package into executable format like my current version? I tried fallowing the instructions provided and don't get the results I am looking for. I am using a Suse 10.1 machine to edit my files.

Or does anyone have it already packaged as version 5 that I could get it emailed to me?
