knetwork manager troubles - new install
I just installed the new kubuntu on a desktop for my friend. I tried connecting my laptop to his computer using a crossover cable. I have my ip set to static, and I set his ip to static.
Yes, I'm using two different ips. For some reason, knetworkmanager just says "not connected" whenever I try to connect the computers. I tried a ping from my laptop, which gave no response.
I checked knetworkmanager's version, and got this info
I tried to find out what kind of network adapter he has, I only saw "Intel Pro/1000 PL".
My knetworkmanager on this machine is version 0.2.2. Is it possible his version uses "TCP/IP version 6 (instead of 4)?
Should I try to find out what card he has specifically, and look for some kind of driver??
Any suggestions would be a great help. Thank you.
