network status indicator
hey i have just installed my ethernet nic card which is of realtek in my fedora core 4 distro. now i can browse internet well. now I just want a network status indicator in my system tray or task bar as if it shows in all the windows operating system. can anybody tell me how to do it?:???:
take a look at networkmanager. If the gnome version is anything like the KDE one, it sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
Thank you AlexK for the help. But the thing is i couldn't find any Network Manager in my GNome desktop. There are only two application available related to this. One is tagges as:
Network Device Control
and the other one is as:
Internet Configuration Wizard
so the problem i couldn't solve. Thank you anyway. but if any body can help then please post a reply.
Try installing it, or see if the Network Device Control item has an entry for a system tray tool. For installing networkmanager, try as root:
yum install networkmanager
This thread is OLD but I just found the answer.
Drag the moveable thingy left to make space in the system tray
Right click an empty space in the tray and click "Add to Panel"
Scroll down and choose Network Monitor
thanks Bob. although i posted this long time before but couldn't solve it. So here you are giving the solution. thanks a lot.
