"Real" PCI Modems
I have an appliance that is based on slackware 10.x running the 2.6.7 kernel. We are using modems that are based on the lucent / Agere1648c chipset. That chip is no longer being made.
We need a real PCI modem that requires no drivers that we can migrate to. I am finding it hard to tell what modems are not softmodems and will they work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I don't know who makes real pci modems anymore. Any reason you can't use an external modem? Actiontec makes a good one as well as Best Data. I've had the Actiontec for years and it still works like a dream. Both are pretty much plug and play...
This is an appliance. The external modem would make it rather cumbersome for the enduser. Is there a list of modems that should work with the 2.6.13 (sorry I was mistaken before)?
