Hi--
I'm a newbie. I'm wondering why someone would use telnet over ssh. Why would somone ever bother with the unsecure version? Why would a network admin ever choose not to use the encrypted protocol?

Main reason i would hazard a guess at is that the "server" doesn't support SSH services. Usually a windows "server" be that an ACTUAL server eg windows server 2000/2003 or a workstation with telnet services installed.
I dont know if you can get a ssh server for windows at all. But if not, i would think this is the main reason for using telnet over ssh, that being that you cant use ssh.
