Switching off Wireless Router Manually

Hey all,

I have a Netopia dsl/Wireless router and would like to be able to disable the Wireless portion manually. Anyone know how this could be done?

1. I thought about opening the box and adding a switch somewhere between the antenna and circuit board, but I still need to test for radiation so I know the switch is actually turning it off. How can I test for the emi?

Or an easier way, does anyone know of a router that has a wireless on/off power button but still leaves the router/dsl portion active?

There is an option to disable the Wireless Access Point in the Netopia routers. You can login to the config page and turn it off there, but I think it usually involves rebooting the server. Is this unsuitable? Does it need to be done with an override switch? I'm not sure that the router would respond well to having the wireless device turned off without warning.

The netopia has software based enable/disable of wireless as well. What I would like is a physical switch on the router,
