What's your internet cable - dialup, ADSL modem, or LAN?

There's two stages to getting online using dial-up. First you have to make the connection and get pppd working. This is the low-level program that handles the actual data transfers in both directions. There are several Linux programs that can do that, e.g. ppp-on/chat, wvdial, kppp. I used to use wvdial in Red Hat (the precursor to Fedora) because I found it easy to set up. Then you use Firefox or another browser to visit sites.
