PS3 and Linux

i'm just curious of a few things...
1.what would be the best version of linux to start on. not having worked with any linux programs, tools, etc...
2.where would i find "manuals" or any kind of materials to orient a noob of my caliber to understand "forumspeak" if u will. (e.g. kernel, tarball, etc...)
i also forgot to mention that i'm using a playstation3 to run linux. your help is greatly desired and appreciated.

There are a few distributions of linux that you can run on the PS3, I'd take a look at some PPC distributions of linux that'll run on that piece of hardware. Gentoo would not be the place to start, but if you want there is extensive documentation on how to get started, and also there is a lot of extra help at gentoo-wiki.com .

First of all, welcome to the forums.

Secondly, I believe that the best read for you as a beginner Linux Newbie would be the Linux Newbie forum section. This thread will be the most important read of them all. And, no offence here, I really urge you to read the "Asking Good Questions" in that thread for future reference.

Last but not least, I recommend you do a Google search regarding linux on PS3. This is important because I'm not sure as distros are well suited for the machine. However start of with the Newbie forums to get yourself some general knowledge.
