    users lockup issue?

I have a really weird issue going on with when switching users. I recently added a user for my girlfriend so she could have her own background/berryl settings/themes etc...(and to try to get her to have fun with linux so she would install it on her laptop). Everything went really smooth until I tried switching users into my user. When I do this the mouse locks up upon boot every time and I have to do the whole ctrl-alt-F1 init 1, init 3 to force a logout of both of our accounts and then log back into my account. This doesn't happen when I go from my account to hers or when I log out of her account and then login to mine, only when I do the "switch user" and go into my account. I'm not prepared to delete my account (way too many things to worry about and set back up) so if it's a matter of dealing with this or deleting my user, I'll just deal with it. Thanks everyone

I assume that you mean using some sort of GUI tool to switch users, and not something like 'su'?

I don't know any specifics for this, but try booting into runlevel 3, and starting X from the console. This way, output from Gnome / X will appear in the terminal you started X from. Maybe there will be some useful debug output.
