Switching browser
Hi folks,
I've received a message from mozilla startup page as :
However, when I checked with mozilla, they've launched a new release mozilla 1.7.13. Should I upgrade to 1.7.13 or switch to another brower ?Code:Warning: the Mozilla Suite is no longer supported by the Mozilla project. The version you are using contains known security vulnerabilities, which put you at risk when browsing the web. For your own safety and security, please upgrade (at no cost) to one of the choices below as soon as possible.
I have tried to install the thunderbird as suggested, but it only shows an email client . Are there any browser available ? And I have installed it as root to public, but when I created the icon and tried to access it, mesg says 'permission denied', could I know how to handle this ?
I have tried the Seamonkey suite also, but after I installed the java package, it will close auto when browsing for some sites.... Did I do sthg wrong ?? Many thanks !
Best regards

- 08-18-2007 #3if you are comportable with Mozilla just upgrade your browserShould I upgrade to 1.7.13 or switch to another brower ?
and if you want to switch to another browser try firefox, opera, konqueror
it's always easier to install packages through your package manager provided with your distro.
if you are using debian based systems use apt-get
or else post your operating systemCode:sudo apt-install firefox
in which directory had you installed it in to. The permision for users to assesing those files may be denied. And I have installed it as root to public, but when I created the icon and tried to access it, mesg says 'permission denied', could I know how to handle this ?
If you want to assess those files simply use sudo programname or change the permissions of the filelife is the greatest opportunity that the nature had given you

Many thanks folks,
My distro is Redhat. I found that the problem may be caused by the latest JRE plugin installed but I am not pretty sure. So, could I have some idea on how to uninstall a 'bin' package from redhat. I have tried to remove the package by rpm -e option, but when I locate the JRE files, I could still find the files which is indeed physically non-existent in the directory listed.
For the problem of thunderbird, I have taken your advice and check the right, put it under /usr/local/ and now it works. Thanks all
