    Question GIMP Always on Top?!?!?

I've always used KDE and you can set any app window to always open on top and remain on top. You can set it to always do this. In GNOME I am having a hard time figuring out how to do this.

I've been looking through ~/.gimp-2.2 for a file that might have dialog settings but so far have found nothing.

Anyone know how to go about this? Thanks

I'm not a gnome user, but I'd rather look on some sort of "gnome control panel", or context menu on the gimp window title area (as in kde and fluxbox). But I don't really know, I just found that place you're looking into an unexpected place to search for that. And if I were to look for files to edit "by hand" I think I'd look on the ~/.gnome folder. Good luck, though.

    Lightbulb Figured it out...

In GNOME there are no menus like in KDE has when you right click the window title bar. The one to set the window size, focus, desktop, etc... so that when you start that app the window always has those settings.

However, I looked through the Gimp preferences a second time and saw there was a setting for this. It is under File>Preferences>Window Management. The setting to change is Window Manager Hints. Select Hints for the toolbox: and choose "Keep Above".

When you do this, every window that is opened from the toolbox (like gimp text editor or any other tool windows) will remain on top, always. Unless you minimize them. It might get a little annoying but it's better then digging through open windows to find the gimp.
