With VNC
I have a server installed and usually SSH to it. There is no GUI installed on it. I'm wondering if VNC allows you to connect to remote computer and open files using apps on your local computer. For example, instead of using pico I would like to use gedit to change files on the remote computer. Is this possible?

Thanks for the link.
So far, what I read it sounds like it's just like VNC but faster. Do you know if I will be able to do what I want without installing a GUI on my server?

I don't want a gui on my server. That's what I'm trying to avoid. I just want to be able to use gedit or a simple text editor like it and be able to save it on the server. I can do this with gFtp, sort of. Whe I do it with gFtp I have to close gedit and answer a dialog that asks whether I'd like to upload the modified file.
Oh well. Thanks for the link anyway... I may be able to use it one day.
I know there must be something out there that will allow me to do this... I just cant find it!!!
