    Lightbulb Want to run Linux

Hello, I am new to Linux and would very much like to run it. I tried Ubuntu but had a ton of trouble getting the wireless network card to work and I gave up and uninstalled it. I am looking for a distro that will work with my wireless network card or that I will have little trouble to get it working. I am also looking for a distro to dual boot with windows.

    Thank You

    Welcome to the forums!

You might want to try Sabayon.

Lots of users report that it works out of the box with most wireless cards, and other computer hardware.

Ok I might try that! I want to learn how to use Linux but it's extremely difficult when you can't use the internet.

Unfortunately it's still not very easy to setup a wireless connection on a Linux box. Don't be frustrated because of these problems - I've seen a lot of people having problems with wireless and Linux (I use a wired connection ). But today every system has a network card which isn't a big deal to configure. I suggest to start with a wired connection and then to configure the wireless connection

Some additional info about your NW topology and NW configuration is needed in order to help you . Configure your wired network card and run this script and post the output. This should provide sufficient infos to help you.

    EDIT: Link updated

    hey control panel,

you shouldn't give up on open source, i've been using ubuntu for the last 3 months and it's great, i had some issues with wireless networking, you should visit ubuntuguide.org since you might need a special driver. if your network works on DHCP you shouldn't have problem using a wired connection. good luck and don't feel discouraged

The link didn't do anything. So if my wired network won't work on Ubuntu or Knoppix will it work on any distro?

So I'm assuming that I need Linux installed for that to work? Because I don't currently have it installed, because I used Ubuntu and then after it didn't work I uninstalled it because it was wasting space.

    Viele dank.
