    dvd drive to show up in window manager

    I'm still pritty new to linux and I have alot of things I still have to learn. I'm trying to move completely into using fluxbox window manager instead of gnome desktop. In gnome my cd comes up automatically and is visible in /media/ but I cant get this to appear or come up when I use fluxbox Its not visible. I know this must be an easy question but I just dont know how to do it. Do I have to mount something?. Ive been checking google and so many different things come up I'm a bit confused can someone please tell me how I can do this so I can forget about gnome desktop thank you.

    I did some searching and found mounttero which does the mounting automatically for you for all your drives its really good if you would like to try it too. I followed the instructions from the site and very easy. I dont know if this would be the best way to go or if I should learn how to do it manually?.

    if it works go with it.

    if you are just reading data dvd's and cd's just find the drive and mount it in command line. to do that type;

    mount /dev/hdc1 /mnt/cdrom

    just make sure hdc1 is your dvd rom sometimes it will be /dev/cdrom also have to make sure you have a folder in the mnt folder called cdrom to place it in. depending on the distro you might have to type sudo or be root to mount.

    ps what distro are you using that might give us more of an idea of specific help to mount it. there is a way to automount the drive too but you have to know where its going.
