    Installing java

(Hint, hint: Extreme Mandriva Linux noob here!)

So far I'm following the steps in order to install java from this site:Linux manual download and installation instruction - 1.5.0

I'm stuck at the part where I have to enable it and configure it to use it for Mozilla Firefox. I installed the files into my home directory and after installing the rpm file, it spat out a libjavaplugin_oji.so file.

According to the website, I'm supposed to "Create a symbolic link to the ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so file: ln -s <JRE>/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so"

But I just have no clue what or how I'm supposed to create a symbolic link (I don't even know what one is.)

Any help to finding out an answer would be wonderful, thank you.

If you are using Mandriva then the linke should be created from <JRE>/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so and not <JRE>/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so.
