Dual Boot question re: access to jpg and MS word files on NTFS partition
NOOB Question! As the title states, I'm wondering if I can access files which I have saved under windows vista to my D: drive (not the vista partition) from my soon to be up and running linux OS? (I'm running from a live CD at this point) I'm new to Linux, so be gentle!
Running an HP dv6000t Windows vista and thinking about going with Ubuntu Studio as I'm into music recording and Photography.

No, you shouldn't have any trouble accessing (reading) the files. If you want to write to NTFS partitions under Linux, you'll need to install ntfs-3g.
Let us know how it goes.oz

well, so far, not going well. I've found what I think is the partition in /mnt/sda2 but nothing shows in the folder. I ran fdisk which showed me this;
/sbin/fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 3142 25236448+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 3142 14594 91982848 7 HPFS/NTFS
I'm not sure what to do next. Any help is appreciated!
