    ethernet card not detected

    HI to all
    i had configured my network setting using the ifconfig command
    but now
    when i
    type

    ifconfig eth0 up

    system says
    "there is no internal flags: no device"

    what to do now
    also i am still facing DVD writer and cd writer problem
    system always say security hal issue

    i even changed my fstab file
    also
    i dont knw how to install softwares in slackware 12

    Open a terminal and type:
    Code:
    /sbin/lspci
    Find the line about your ethernet controller, write it down and paste it here please. It sounds like you are a new Linux user. Slackware is a pretty hard distro to begin with if that is the case. There are other distros that are far easier as a first distro.
