Yes, you can do just about anything that Mandriva can do in Slackware.
I'm not sure what feature you are referring to, but it might be beryl or compiz that you'd need to install.oz

Slackware ships with Compiz. It shouldn't be to difficult to turn on.
Also, there is a Slackpack of Metisse, for those interested.
Slackware has pkgtools as default package manager.Can't tell an OS by it's GUI
