    RAM Cap?

I recently heard someone saying that Ubuntu only utilizes 1 gig of RAM and wanted to know if this is true. I have 2 gigs in my machine and my system monitor sees the 2 gigs but this guy was telling me that even if it sees the extra gig it'll only use a max of 1 of it, the rest is wasted.....

This "guy" is full of something, and it's not knowledge. There is no memory cap that I'm aware of in any Linux distribution, including Ubuntu.

There is a physical memory cap on 32-bit CPUs, but this has nothing to do with the operating system. It's just impossible to access more than 4GB of RAM on a 32-bit chip, whereas that ceiling is raised significantly on a 64-bit CPU.

If Ubuntu tells you it's using all 2GB, it's using all 2GB. Accept no other theories.
