    cant really make a recommendation on which distro people like what they like. try the usual suspects ubuntu, pclinux os etc those are beginner distros and when you get more experienced try gentoo and slackware. read the sticky at the top of this forum topic.

    ps keep an open mind and that windows and linux are nothing alike so keep the expectations of the move reasonable. games are tricky subject in linux etc. and if you have problems installing, running or questions you might have post them here

    If you're just running it for home, then the gentoo or ubuntu recommendations below are quite good. With gentoo, you'll definitely learn a lot and can tune a lot of dials. It's a bit more work though.

    If you want to learn it for work or to get a job, I'd recommend going with CentOS -- it will give you experience close to the commercial Red Hat offering that is the top choice in business. It's not quite as much fun, though
