Can't write to opt drive, permission denied - HELP!

    Hi,

I am attempting to copy an app to the opt drive and i keep getting an error saying I don;t have permission. However, I am logged in as root, having used

    su -

to get there. My user name then changes to root@localhost. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Is there another way to get to toot that I don't know about? I've gotten this error with other functions I've tried to perform.

When you say "/opt drive" does that mean you installed /opt to a seperate hard drive than where your root partition is? Or is /opt still in the root partition table? Do as root:
    Code:
    ls -l /opt
And post the output here. When you do "su" is it then asking for your root password? Which distro are you using?
