    3 quick admin questions about root and UID (User I.D. (Identification))

    can u change root to another UID other than 0?
    would this make it more secure?
    would this cause problems?

    As I recall, the superuser becomes the superuser by virtue of having UID = 0. I can find a number of references to this online, but no authoritative source.

    In any event, since root needs UID 0, changing it would be a bad idea.

    Yeah, I've read that somewhere as well. I wouldn't recommend messing with default userIDs.
