    I'm not sure if this'll help, but i boot redhat 9 on my main harddisk and win2k on my secondary drive (which will boot straight into windows if set to the master), but heres my grub.conf file anyway

    Code:
    default=0
    timeout=10
    splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
    title Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8via)
    	root (hd0,0)
    	kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8via ro root=LABEL=/ vga=791 video=vesa:ypan,mtrr,pmipal
    	initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8via.img
    title Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8)
    	root (hd0,0)
    	kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8****ed ro root=LABEL=/
    	initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8****ed.img
    title Original Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8)
    	root (hd0,0)
    	kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
    	initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img
    title Windows 2000
    	map (hd0) (hd1)
    	map (hd1) (hd0)
    	rootnoverify (hd1,0)
    	chainloader +1
    	boot
    (the map calls are because windows needs to believe that is is the master)

    you might have removed windows mbr, i'm not sure hopw to rebuild it thou, maybe something like 'fdisk /mbr' ??

    i don't understand what is the problem? XP won't boot? REJOICE! BE MERRY!!

    jk....use the recovery console provided by the XP install CD. when use get in to it type fixmbr and then reinstall your boot loader.

    Try fixing XP MBR first by bootcfg /rebuild and than install grub or lilo again with settings above.
